Hello to all like seven of my readers. If you’re still checking in then shout out to you dude!! I really appreciate you being here even though I am an inactive mess :D
As you can see, I’ve made some changes to my blog layout! Loosely based on my lovely friend E0NBREAK. I’m hoping to make some seasonal ones when the holidays come around,,,
I told myself I’d try and do a blog post, then immediately broke my streak by posting nothing in May. As literally any university student ever would tell you, end-of-semester work is TOUGH SHIT TO DEAL WITH. So May was primarily finishing off a million short pieces, taking commissions and doing simple web design for cash!
So, here’s some dotpoints about my life in May and June:
- Attended my friend’s birthday party and looked like a cryptid in every photo. You can very obviously tell I’m smashed.
- Went out for lunch multiple times. Got really into having sandwiches and chips.
- Bought a new tarot deck. “Low Scare Tarot”, it’s apparently called; skinny little cards without a guidebook. Gorgeous, though.
- Managed to score a mini apothecary cabinet for $35. Yet to fill it.
- Ate an entire wheel of brie by myself.
- Binged 2 and a half K-Dramas with my mother.
- Went and saw my friend’s performance of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.
- Saw The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act in theatres with my best friend and her sister a week later. Did a closet cosplay of Pomni.
- Finished all of my university assignments for the semester!!
- Got an acryllic standee of Kazuaki Nanaki from Hatoful Boyfriend as a treat for myself.
- Fell back into playing dating sims, because the lack of hot and rich people in my life is starting to get to me.
- Added exponentially to my Pokemon card collection. I have so many Greavards in my binder.
- Made an impromptu Mothman costume from reindeer antlers, pipe cleaners and a dream because I forgot I was going to a costume party the next day.
- Saw Postmodern Jukebox live and got absolutely winded when the emcee sang a cover of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons.
- Got back into junk journalling!
- Got attacked by multiple seagulls and one (1) cormorant.
- Redyed my hair and got wrapped in cling film for the first time.
- Got a new ita bag.
And here we are.
As one can likely guess, most of my June has been taken up with preparation for Artfight. I’ve been spending every day sitting and obsessively recoding everyone’s profiles. I’m still not finished with relationships, but hopefully people can get the idea from their bios… I’ve been taking part since 2021, and I’m very excited for this year’s! Even though all of my OCs are pathetically tragic, I’m on Team Comedy. I’ll link my account here, so feel free to follow if you’re an artist! Best of luck to all my fellow participants, and may the best team win.
Other than Artfight prep, I recently spent the week at a unit by the beach with my mother. Every year we try and take a week off in the winter holidays to take a break by the seaside; winter’s the one time of year the Australian beaches aren’t packed with people. Gorgeous views with one of my favourite people in the world - I seriously believe there’s nothing better than being able to get writing done out there. Not to mention all of the adorable dogs out on walks in their silly little sweaters.
Speaking of winter break, it’s FINALLY winter!! I love the colder seasons. You get to rug up in sweaters and blankets, drink warm drinks, spend time inside with the people you love, so on and so forth. I think it’s so lovely that’s something I get to do. In summer I just wanna peel my skin off because I’ve already removed all of my layers. One of the lesser-known pros of being overweight is that you get a layer of fat all over yourself so you stay nice and insulated in the cold weather.
The rain’s been a bit of a bitch, though. I love being inside in the rain and hearing it on the roof, but I’m fighting for my life every time I have to drive around.
I really do wish I had something interesting to write for my ‘great return’. But, part of me can’t help but feel happy that my life isn’t action-packed like some others’ are. Sure, I’ve got pressure - finding a job, sorting out enrolment, going to family gatherings and timing how long it takes for them to mention my weight - but I’m so lucky that I don’t have anything life-threatening to deal with. I may not do much, but I’m quite happy with my slow, easygoing life. I may only post on my private Instagram once every few months, but I really do enjoy staying home.
May July bring us all good things!
with love, lee ♥
